I first met Morgan when she was newly engaged, and I had the privilege of photographing her wedding.  Now Morgan is in a different stage of her life: Motherhood.  She holds the title of  “Mama” to two young daughters…miniature versions of herself, each in her own way.    I always appreciate it when a mother details to me all the specific characteristics and personality traits each of their children possess.  It is always then that you see the fullness of their love and admiration for each little human gift that makes up their whole family.  When a woman talks about her children, with his/her individual quirks, strengths, talents and humor, you see the culmination of everything that makes her a mother.  You see her greatest joys, her biggest fears and everything her heart prays for as she tells you just exactly who her child is and who she hopes he/she will become.   Morgan is a mother like that, parenting two very different personalities on a daily basis, and yet so in love with how God designed each of them with purpose.  And her two little girls seem to think she’s hung the moon, as well.  We chose to photograph her Motherhood session at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve, one of the prettiest natural settings in the DFW area.  While the girls played and ran, and picked wildflowers, I got to see Morgan doing what she does so well, being their mother.

Let’s be honest.  Toddlers pretty much want nothing to do with having their picture taken, and most don’t seem to care too much about snuggling new siblings either.  I mean, to them, there are so many more exciting things that could be happening…like reading books, driving fire trucks on your parents bed, or perhaps even using your new baby brother as landscape for said fire truck.  But one day, ONE day, having a baby brother will mean so much more to this big brother.   And one day, this mama and daddy will be able to look back on these photos and remember the first few chaotic days where these two brothers bonded, shared their first toy truck, and learned to love each other.  I hope these two sweet boys share a lifetime of love, a lifetime of stories and fun memories.  I’m so glad I got to be there for some of the first ones.

Baby Hayes.  A sweet surprise, that came into this world in the most dramatic fashion.  He has a protective older brother, a doting big sister, and a mama and a daddy who couldn’t be more overjoyed that God has placed him in their family.  I love spending time with these people.  They are a gift, each and everyone of them.  They embrace the chaos and the unexpected, they have awesome dance parties and jam sessions, they speak with encouragement and humility, and they love people so very well.  Baby Hayes is one blessed little man to be apart of such a family.  And I feel so blessed to call them friends.Bright, Happy photo of new Mom and Dad holding baby on bed. Jennifer I have known since college….19 years that is.  It doesn’t seem like that is possible. Time sure does fly.  We’ve seen each other’s heartbreaks, joys, been in each other’s weddings, and watched each other’s families grow.  Hers is much bigger than mine is, by the way.  She and her husband are about to welcome there 7th baby into their family.  She is super mom, super wife, super woman.  She is flexible, patient, attentive, and sensitive.  And isn’t she gorgeous?   I’ve learned so much from her over the years, and she has never been anything but encouraging to me as a fellow mother, business owner and friend.   Love you Jenn!

This woman is so special.  She’s an amazing photographer and entrepreneur, the an incredible wife, and a fabulous mama to 2 (almost 3) wee ones.  She’s mastered the art of hospitality and graciousness, and I’m not sure that there much better quality to possess as a mother.  There are things you can teach your children through words, but they are nothing compared to lessons that are taught from core of ones character.  And Heather is a mother to be admired.  Her children are so blessed to have this woman in their life every single day, teaching them, correcting them, loving them like she does.
